Background

Northwestern Kara-Tur ( Map #1), often referred to as Drannor, consists of seven regional dukedoms: Saint Germaine, Saint William, Saint Norbert, Luxor, Saint Cuthbert, Saint Vincent, and Nottingham. Smaller townships and villages outside the immediate area of each pay taxes to the nearest Duke, and often to more than one, allowing their allegiance to be extorted without any fuss.

Four centuries ago, King Drannor united the seven dukedoms, but the central government in Nottingham disintegrated after the King's death. The kingdom known as Drannor is really a loose confederacy of the Seven Dukes, who rule their respective regions in relative peace.

Each dukedom maintains a standing military force to communicate its power to its neighbors.

Infiltrators Campaign Briefing

The kingdom known as Drannor is really a loose confederacy of the Seven Dukes, who rule their respective regions in relative peace.

The kingdom known as Durkin to the south is more temperate and fertile than Drannor. It is ruled by a king in the great city of Camlin. The two kingdoms have traded with one another for centuries, despite the fact that land and sea routes are plagued by pirates and organized bandits. The latter has led to the rocky coastline connecting the two regions to be known as 'Gambler's Reach', since just getting a caravan through it is so risky. The high risk contributes to high prices in the north for southern goods, and vice versa.

Economy

Drannor most exports pitch, spirits, beer, spirits, pickled vegetables, furs, fish, salt, and cheese to Durkin.

Durkin's goods destined for the north include luxury items from the East, spices, alloys and weapons, olive oil, fine leather, and Elven goods.

Climate

Coastal regions are temperate but cool, particularly in the north, where snow is not uncommon in the winter months. Inland is cooler still, with the higher elevations of the Hills of Nimlith dropping well below freezing even in spring and fall. Precipitation is moderate, and slightly heavier in the south.

Extreme Elevations

Coastline (0'), Ozgarn Mountains (~10,000').
