The camp is frequently attacked by the evil denizens of Darkwood, requiring a continuous stream of aspiring warrior recruits to replenish the outpost's defense forces.
As outpost defenses have improved, representatives of the government of Nottingham, typically bureaucrats and tax collectors, are often stationed here.
