the dragon is huge 150' body, 150' tail (or 300' after enlarge!)

From the Superheroes notes:

The mountain towers to 6000', where the temperature is noticeably cooler and the plants different, darker and hardier. It'll take an entire day to get to the top due to the machete work required. Watch out for colorfully-plumed tropical birds and a troop of gorillas.

Within the ancient cinder cone, mists swirl day and night above a deep lake surrounded by thick and wild vegetation.

No large animals are here. In fact, no bird either. It's silent.

The lake is about 2000' feet across, and at its deepest nearly 3000' deep. This causes it to look nearly black.

Mists swirl on the surface and above it, and water drips from all the giant ferns and broad-leaf jungle plants here. Mosses grow in dripping foot-thick mats on 10' boulders here and there.

After the party gets to the water's edge and ponders their next move, a light splash can be heard through the mist. A minute later, a series of waves washes up.

Silence. Nothing happens for hours... or days.

Then, an eruption of water 40' out on the lake, and a 15' wide blue-gray dragon head bursts out of the water and speaks as the fog thickens around the party dramatically (wall of fog):

“Another unholy mission of the Cult of the Dragon, I assume? I told you ten years ago I'm not interested. I prefer to die and slowly give my humble flesh to the fish, my tiny brothers and sisters.”

The dragon does not like being disturbed. The dragon does not like conversation.

The dragon prefers to contemplate the universe in the mist:

  • ah but what is real, but that which is in one's mind?
  • You may think you know, but how can you know you know?
  • I may be a figment of your imagination, or you of mine.
  • Whatever one believes to be true, either is true, or will become true – for him

such striving, such effort. All roads lead to death, you know.

  • Good and evil are but two sides to the same coin.
  • The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.
  • Say only a little, but say it well.
  • A man does not seek his luck, luck seeks its man.
  • The first sip of broth is always the tastiest.
  • The sun will set without your assistance.
  • When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.
  • Peace with a cudgel in hand is war.
  • A crow does not louse the buffalo to clean him but to feed himself.

But the dragon is also upset about her lowering lake level, and knows it's because of the giants mining.

And she knows about the human civilization that used to inhabit the island. She still has some regrets about being a much younger dragon, and acquiring a taste for human flesh, wiping them out.

She knows the ruins of their temple is in the shadow of a great egg-shaped stone near the northern coastline. But she hates being disturbed. Make the giants stop hammering away in their mine (“I can hear them at night at the bottom of the lake”), and I will give you the information you seek....
