Space
A far-future space campaign, inspired by Star Trek's Cardassians and Riddick, started by Darren...
Overview
It is the far future, and humans live on thousands of planets, moons, and stations throughout the galaxy. Alien species are known, some are trading partners, some are adversaries. Nuclear fusion is used to power personal vehicles. Molecular nanotech is pervasive. Antimatter experimentation is underway.
And you are slaves.
Recent History
Your character history will determine why you are a slave. Perhaps your civilization lost a great war. Perhaps you are being punished for sleeping with Emperor T-Kai's son. Perhaps your gambling debts exceeded your lifetime earning potential.
But today, and for the last ten or more years, you are a slave. You mine unknown ore on a desolate planet for a faceless corporation. The guards who keep you working are also slaves.
Character Creation
The GM is offering a wide window for creativity in this campaign, and GURPS is great for this -- with GURPS you can build a character who is godzilla, superman, a squirrel, or a 1973 Dodge Dart -- the mechanics are that flexible.
Species: you are probably human, but if you want to take the time to develop an alien species and the GM approves it, great!
If you want to be a robot/android, or cyber- or genetically- enhanced human and the GM approves it, great!
If you want to be a security guard or corporate administrator instead of a straight miner-slave, you can do so with points. Ask the GM how many for your particular story.
Some restrictions:
- This is TL 10 with some TL 11 elements.
- 250 point characters
- Disadvantages at -50 max.
- You must spend points consistent with working in a mine for ten years.
- Magic is not known in this universe (though you know what they say about technology sufficiently advanced)
Next step for anyone who wants to play this campaign: Develop your idea and get it to Darren for refinement and approval.
