Description

Mr. Wax is a Catholic Priest turned Special Forces Operator. He was raised on Old Testament God and believes that in order for the sheep to live peacefully, the wolves must be contained, and as a man of God, it is his duty to place himself between the sheep and wolves. He is a contemplative man that attempts to see God’s path for him, but is unafraid to act. Tactically, he prefers to stick to the shadow and use stealth and surprise to his advantage (as those he seeks tend to lack principles). He operated as a wet-worker for the Vatican, but has since spurned them and is now being chased by their forces. He was ordained as a priest, though he has offended the church, he has not been relieved of his vow (or at least no one has told him, so he maintains as if it is still active. Between missions, he serves as a priest in Dili.

History

Shaun O’Shaughnessy was born a bastard child to an Irish Catholic Priest in Boston, Father Cillian O’Shaughnessy. The Priest was planning on having the mother raise the boy, but she died in childbirth. Shaun was raised by nuns in a convent with Father O’Shaughnessy frequently looking in on him and doing his best to raise him as a son. Shaun was a typical youth, albeit a touch angry and frustrated, occasionally getting into trouble, but he always respected the sanctity of the church. He was always active and participated in many sports. Eventually he went off to college on a soccer scholarship and got a degree in religious studies and then continued on to seminary becoming a Priest, making his father proud. It was shortly after this that the Central Asian Crisis erupted and Shaun felt he could best serve God by enlisting in the US Army as a Chaplin and taking the word to the soldiers that needed it the most.

Shaun impressed his superiors with his natural solidering abilities and physicality not typically found in Chaplains, garnering him assignments with the more advanced units and more dangerous postings eventually landing with Green Berets. Normally opposed to weapons he began carrying to defend himself and his teammates, and found he was as good (or better) with a rifle or sidearm as most of his Special Forces compatriots. His rise through the military ranks was being watched by the Vatican. Shaun was approached by Cardinal Joseph Braun, the Archbishop of Resolute Ministries Archdiocese, a secret order operated out of the Vatican charged with carrying out clandestine operations throughout the world at the behest of the Pope. Shaun left the Army and was inducted to the Order of the Candle and given the codename Father Wax and the identity of Shaun O’Shaughnessy was wiped from the world.

During his years with Resolute Ministries he became the Pope’s favorite operator; the one who could complete a mission where everyone else failed. But all this ended when his father took sick. Wax took leave to be by his father’s side as he died. In his final hours Wax’s father confessed his sins to his son that Wax was not his only son. A few years before Shaun was born, he had a relationship with another parishioner, and Seamus was born, the mother raised him back in Ireland, and last Cillian had heard, was working on the shadier side of business dealings. During the last rites, Wax noticed small tell tale signs that his fathers illness had been caused by Resolute Ministries. Confronting the Pope about this, he learned that the Pope had become increasingly concerned about Wax’s devotion and ordered his father killed as a warning. Wax had been having a crisis of faith, wondering if what he was doing was right, and this caused him to snap. He jumped the Pope; it took 7 of the Pope’s private guard to pull Wax off the holy man. Wax was placed in a cell until his excommunication and execution could be carried out in the morning, but it takes more than a cell to hold a man like Wax and in the morning his cell was empty (just like Jesus).

For the last few years Wax has wandered the world trying to stay one step ahead of his former unit. He even found his brother; they were fast acquaintances and became great friends. Seamus works as a black market arms dealer and does a good job of keeping Wax fully armed. Recently, Wax has found himself working with a group out of Dili in East Timor running a small chapel there in between missions.
