An evil psychotic mage outcast by his guild of magi on the island of Thay, wast of the Shining River. He has charmed or by some other means gained the following of a small band of Sligs from Thay to do his “housekeeping” and dirty work while his tower has been constructed and he mined beneath it for the second boot of Akhad. He has also managed to enslave many Norker Hobgoblins from the Iron Hills to do the manual labor.
Marckall being outcast had come to the woods to gather power and amass an army of his own creation to help him find his other boot and prove his power to his former guild.
Marckall and his bodyguard Krung were last encountered by the Nigelites when logging the woods to the southwest of the Dark Hills.
Magic items possessed
- Marckall now possesses both the Left Boot of Akhad and the Right Boot of Akhad.
- Cloak of Flame
First Appearance In Zareph you were trying to hunt up work because you were low on money and food. An old man named Kaleph asked you to find a man named Marckall Caplonra and stop his madness before it is too late. He hurried you off and wouldn't explain any more. However, because he did give you 50gp and a magic ball in advance, you didn't argue.
Later the party found a blind druid battling a Hydra rigged with logging chains and Sligs with axes and saws, who were apparently logging down the druids forest in employ of Marckall who was using the lumber operation to fund an excavation under his tower. The excavation was to find a tomb which held a piece of Akhad's fabled armor.
The party eventually recovered the boot of Akhad from a Dark Naga pool in the tomb beneath the tower, but the boot was stolen from Marckall who promptly vanished.
