A few hundred years ago, Mount Dracos erupted and spewed forth a tremendous lava flow, boulders, gravel, and soot. This cataclysm spread out across the Plains of Ur between the Steam River and the Twisted Forest.
Today it is a surreal landscape of twisted columns, jagged rock, immense potholes, and giant boulders.
Due to its inhospitable conditions, it is scarcely inhabited, but a few malevolent creatures manage to persist therein.
Parts of the region were explored during the Ur campaign. The party at the time heard legends about it, one concerning the peaceful people who once lived in the area, and another about the flesh-eating demon that preyed on the peaceful people. (The party did indeed slay a flesh-eating creature therein...)
The Forest Folk, including Faunus McClavie, possess information about passable routes and other secrets of the region.
