			Adonia was born on [[Thronos]] to a fisherman and a healer. She was an active girl, a great swimmer, and had an enjoyable childhood.

			As she reached adolescence, she enjoyed watching the ships, far out to sea, as sailed between Thronos and [[Hell Island]]. She would sit beneath shade palms for hours, wondering about the exotic lands of their origins - and destinations.

			When she was a lithe and tan seventeen-year-old, one of the great sailing vessels approached the island, anchored in the lagoon, and men rowed boats ashore. They were tall and long-legged and wore bright colors. They had pure gold to spend on food, water, and supplies, and they shared their rum and songs with the town leaders.

			On the second day of their visit, Adonia had a chance encounter with the leader of the strange men. She was carrying a basket of mangoes to the community kitchen, and the man emerged from the thatched dining shelter.

			Then, after four days of awaiting Devin's return to the ship from the smokey streets of [[Zareph]], her beloved's towering right hand man, [[Lars Wolfsen]], returned alone. Lars had always treated her with kindness and respect, and he invited her into town to rendezvous with Devin.

			But something seemed off. Lars' usual boisterousness and enthusiasm was muted. His jaw was right, his voice low.

			Nevertheless, she followed, and as the two navigated the crowded and harrowing streets of Zareph, Adonia thought repeatedly of Devin's warnings.

			Finally, they arrived at a two story brick building with small, barred windows. A sign, decorated with exaggerated female anatomy, named the place -- [[The Juicy Peach]]

			A tall, fat, bearded man emerged and, with a grin, began scrutinizing Adonia's figure. She raised her chin and tried to appear defiant, but her heart was racing and she thought she may vomit.
